An Evening on Fuqian Road

Fuqian Road passes the Confucius Temple, and several old shops along it stay open late. Start with shrimp bawan, then have angelica duck soup and wok-fried eel, and end with fresh juice.

Getting there

From Tainan Station it is about 20 minutes on foot or a short taxi ride to Kaishan Road by the Confucius Temple.

On the way

  • Confucius Temple: Taiwan's oldest Confucian temple, with quiet courtyards across the road from the fruit shop.
  • Hayashi Department Store: A restored 1932 department store with a rooftop, open into the evening.
