History
Zheng Jing built the residence for Zhu Shugui, Prince Ningjing, who took his own life after the Zheng surrender to the Qing in 1683. In 1684 the Qing turned it into a temple to Mazu, the first under her new title of Empress of Heaven. It took its present form in 1775 and was rebuilt after a fire in 1818.
